Lynda Parton
Lynda Parton graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with a Bachelor of Music with Honors in Performance and has since been involved in various forms of education all over Scotland.
Lynda has spent most of her time working as an Instrumental Instructor with Renfrewshire Council and East Lothian Council teaching children individually and in groups. Lynda has been heavily involved in the selection process for children in both Councils.
In Renfrewshire Lynda was a member of the Endangered Species selection panel. This is a scheme designed to recruit young players on the more rare and unusual instruments which tend to be ignored by mainstream education authorities such as French horn, oboe, bassoon and viola. Lynda has successfully recruited and taught many new French horn players in the region.
In East Lothian Lynda has set up a School band in every school she has been in and has entered pupils for the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music exams with a 100% pass rate, all pupils passed with Distinction or Merit. During her time in East Lothian Lynda was also Choir Co-ordinator and was responsible for the setting up and running of a new partnership with the National Youth Choir of Scotland. This involved forming six Area Choirs based on the Kodaly principal. This was a fantastic new opportunity for young children to learn music in a logical, sequential manner.
